  1. Sampling Monday: The results are in, Part 6!

    Wednesday, September 9, 2015

Old habits die hard and it's never too late to catch up on some Sampling Monday territory! I know it's Wednesday already and I know it's been some time since I wrote here, but I am here now.

Arkham has not been easy for me but it's time I get the hang of it!

Clinique "Custom-Repair Serum": I really really like to indulge into some pampering and serums and the perfect kinds of products to use before your moisturiser. This serum by Clinique is light, fragrance free and though the formula promises to firm and lift skin, reduce dark spots and even skin tone, improve radiance and texture. I didn't experience any big change, though my skin tended to feel smoother than it is.

Estee Lauder "Sumptuous Extreme" mascara : I usually get excited over mini mascaras and this is no exception. The "Sumptuous Extreme" mascara has a conical wand, which is ideal to get the inner eyelashes and the formula runs a bit after a few hours. Apart from that little problem, the mascara gives a nice boost of volume and length to the lashes and separates them like a pro!

Fresh Line "Artemis-Soothing and Hydrating Face and Eye Emulsion" : Going natural is great and I have to say that this emulsion seemed to work for the usual suspect on my face called "redness"; I used this emulsion after cleaning my face and before the moisturiser and found it light, a bit too light at times, but it managed to soothe my redness unexpectedly good.

P.S. Sorry if I disappeared for a long time and if some of you kept reading and looking for me, thanks for doing that. We are a step closer to getting back to normal. Take care beautiful!

  2. Happy Monday to y'all! It has been a week since the last post and I have to say that my mind is finding difficult to getting down and writing my reviews and all. I could blame Bruce for taking me away from the internet but my procrastinating self is the one to blame for. But here's the verdict of the last three "Sampling Monday" posts.
Oh procrastination, why thou have not evolved into something more creative?

Vichy "Purete Thermale 3-In-1 One Step Cleanser" : I love products that are multifunctional and I fell head over heels with how good this cleanser is. This cleansing milk is gentle but do not mistake it for a cleanser that does get the job done; with a little amount in a cotton pad, you can take off your face and eye make-up and your skin will feel soft and not dry. I think that depending your skin, this cleanser might not require you to apply your regular moisturiser at once and not giving that "tight skin" feeling that other cleanser give.

(Malin + Goetz) "Vitamin B5 Body Moisturizer" : Moisturisers are a big part of my routine and I liked this one, without going completely gaga over it. The bergamot scent is what strikes my fancy the most and the quick absorption is great when you are out of the shower and ready to go out. I didn't witness any dramatic soothing results on me but to be honest, I didn't really have a problem with my skin.

Kiehl's "Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Cream" : As you might have already noticed from my posts, I always talk about my big pores problem. And with this sample being not only a wrinkle reducing cream but also a pores treating cream I expected to see some change; my wrinkles are not so bad at the moment, so there was no effect there, and my pores didn't see any benefit too. Overall I liked the texture of the cream, not too heavy, but I didn't see any change.

P.S. I think things will go back to normal as of this week and new posts will be uploaded soon! Hope you are not mad about the lack of update. xx

  3.  Happy Monday all! It's time to share my thoughts about the samples I have been using lately. There have been some disappointments and some pleasant surprises so I ended up with a sardonic smile like Joker's with one or two products. So, trying new things helps to find out what really works for you and which products you feel like you should grab some extra samples to give them time to show results.
It always takes some effort to find the right thing. Sampling Monday, let's go!

Clinique "Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum and Makeup" : Now these are two products so let's talk about each separately. I applied the "Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum" after cleansing and before moisturising my face and loved the lightweight formula but after trying it for a couple of days I didn't see any difference on my pores. As for the "Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecting Makeup", the shade was indeed a tiny bit darker than mine but this foundation offers great coverage and does make pores appear smaller. In a few words, liked the make-up but didn't see any point to the serum.

Algenist "Algae Brightening Mask" : I am a big mask fan and I am excited to say that I totally loved this! Even though the texture was a bit bizarre for my taste, I was impressed that this brightening mask hydrated, smoothed my skin and it balanced my redness. My face looked brighter for days my complexion looked more balanced.

Bumble and Bumble "Surf Shampoo and Conditioner" : Well, these two products gave me a hard time to decide and I will explain now in detail. I have straight, which sometimes tend to be wavy so I though that this shampoo and conditioner combo would give me a more wavy result than my usual; after using these two I ended up with very light beach waves. I think that Bumble and Bumble is recommended for a better result but the "Surf" shampoo and conditioner can be used on their own or with the "Surf Spray" for a more complete look. Personally, I loved the scent of the shampoo, the lightness of the conditioner and I went crazy for the volume my hair had! This shampoo and conditioner are great but they are not as "beachy" as I expected.

P.S. I hope this round of Sampling Monday's samples is a bit of a help for you to decide which product to try or not! Have you tried any of the products that are mentioned? What did you think of them?

  4. Doomsday may not only be a super villain from Krypton but it may also be a bad Monday or a bad Tuesday to say for myself. So, with my week setting off with a busy Monday I got my ass kicked today by Doomsday, metaphorically and literally; life's hard, but who said that life is easy?
    Even superheroes have their blues.

So, in this instalment of "Sampling Monday" on a Tuesday we have a duo of samples for minimizing pores! Clinique's "Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum" and "Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecting Makeup" are two products that minimize the appearance of pores and creating a smoother look. On the one hand, "Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum" is a lightweight, oil-free formula serum that can be applied twice a day after cleansing and before your moisturiser; it clears out pore-clogging debris and oil and promises 58% smaller pores in 2 weeks. And on the other hand, "Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecting Makeup" is an oil-free makeup that makes your pores seem smaller keeps your complexion light. I have to say that I a little worried the makeup shade will not match my complexion but we will see!

P.S. Hope you had a better Monday and Tuesday than me. xo

  5. It's time to round up the samples and spill the deets on how good or bad they were! Processing data and evaluating how something delivers results are skills that I have developed as a sidekick to the world's greatest detective, Batman, and they are not only applicable to fighting crime but also to reviewing beauty products!
So, shall we move on to the "Sampling Monday" regime?
Make Up For Ever "Pro Finish" : I am a big sucker for powder foundations and this one was not disappointment! Despite its light formula, this powder foundation successfully concealed my redness and made my complexion seem more even. I also noticed that I needed some extra product to cover my face but maybe I am a big spender on powder foundation.

Benefit Cosmetics "The Porefessional" : Having a little problem with my pores, I expected this product to minimize how big my pores look. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me; after application, my pores looked the same as before but my skin felt smoother. If you don't have a big pores problem, this might work for you.

Laura Mercier "Eyedration Moisture Eye Crème" : This eye cream was as good as it promised! Super moisturising, it spoiled my under eye area with vitamin E and C and it really brighten my dark circles. My eyes look refreshed and I am more than happy to say that it the result lasted longer than expected. If you don't have a dark circles problem, you may skip the concealer with this!

P.S. Which was your favourite sample out of the three? Was there something you also tried?
