  1. Sampling Monday: The results are in, Part 6!

    Wednesday, September 9, 2015

Old habits die hard and it's never too late to catch up on some Sampling Monday territory! I know it's Wednesday already and I know it's been some time since I wrote here, but I am here now.

Arkham has not been easy for me but it's time I get the hang of it!

Clinique "Custom-Repair Serum": I really really like to indulge into some pampering and serums and the perfect kinds of products to use before your moisturiser. This serum by Clinique is light, fragrance free and though the formula promises to firm and lift skin, reduce dark spots and even skin tone, improve radiance and texture. I didn't experience any big change, though my skin tended to feel smoother than it is.

Estee Lauder "Sumptuous Extreme" mascara : I usually get excited over mini mascaras and this is no exception. The "Sumptuous Extreme" mascara has a conical wand, which is ideal to get the inner eyelashes and the formula runs a bit after a few hours. Apart from that little problem, the mascara gives a nice boost of volume and length to the lashes and separates them like a pro!

Fresh Line "Artemis-Soothing and Hydrating Face and Eye Emulsion" : Going natural is great and I have to say that this emulsion seemed to work for the usual suspect on my face called "redness"; I used this emulsion after cleaning my face and before the moisturiser and found it light, a bit too light at times, but it managed to soothe my redness unexpectedly good.

P.S. Sorry if I disappeared for a long time and if some of you kept reading and looking for me, thanks for doing that. We are a step closer to getting back to normal. Take care beautiful!

  2. Mondays seem to arrive faster that we anticipate them too; but maybe the new week will bring some pleasant surprises with it. Splitting time between staying in the Batcave, working on some upgrade on my suit courtesy of Mr Bats, and training with Damian to improve his kicks, my beauty time was reduced almost to zero.
But all good things come around!

It feels good to have "Sampling Monday" back and I hope you are too. This Monday's sample is Clinique's "Custom-Repaid Serum", which is a smart serum that understands the particular needs of your skin, providing custom repair for the damage you see and the damage you don't. Depending on our age and other factors, our complexion exhibits different needs and this products targets multiple concerns like diminishing lines and wrinkles, firming and lifting skin, reducing dark spots and evening skin tone and improving radiance and texture. No matter what your skin needs, this clever little serum promises to give you want you need whenever you need it! Let's see if the serum delivers what I need but don't know yet.

P.S. I wish you all a great week and stay tuned for more posts coming soon!

  3. Review: Clinique "Anti-Blemish Solutions"

    Thursday, August 28, 2014

There are some things that go away for some time and then re-appear for good or worse. Blemishes, dryness, long nails, clean skin. Or like a memory of an old flame of Bruce, Jezebel Jet, coming back to remind to the Wayne and Batman family what it was, what traps it fell for and what it became in the future.
For good or bad, we learn from our mistakes.

So, a personal problem that disappears and appears again is blemishes; my face has not entirely got rid of blemishes and every once in a while I get a breakout that is a bummer. I decided to try a new cleanser and purchased the Clinique "Anti-Blemish Solutions", a cleansing foam targeted for acne. This cleanser works immediately to help clear and prevent acne; the foam formula of this cleanser is gentle for the complexion but at the same time removes the dirt and excess oil. The usual culprit behind acne is excess oil but it is hard to spot a cleanser that does the job and does not leave the skin dry and dull; this gentle cleansing foam cleans off the extra oil the complexion has and unclogs pores making more and more blackheads disappear with each application.
I wanted to buy a cleanser that would not be too harsh on my skin and I was suggested a foam formula cleanser due to their benefit of not drying the skin and the easy application; after some time of using the "Anti- Blemish Solutions", my skin has witnessed a big reduction in blemishes and I love how fresh I feel after application. The scent of the cleanser reminds me a little bit of tea tree oil but overall I love how it brings to my mind the "clean" sense. The "Anti-Blemish Solutions" cleansing foam was a big change compared to the usual cleansers I used and I am happy to say that it did something for my problematic blemish situation.

Acne is a trouble that everyone has faced once or a couple of times in their lives but a really good cleanser is a big help in dealing with this problem. Clinique's "Anti-Blemish Solutions" is a foam cleanser, which is a great solution for gently cleaning the skin, removing dirt and excess oil and unclogging the pores; its foam formula does not leave the skin dry but fresh, clean and ready for the moisturiser!

  4.  Happy Monday all! It's time to share my thoughts about the samples I have been using lately. There have been some disappointments and some pleasant surprises so I ended up with a sardonic smile like Joker's with one or two products. So, trying new things helps to find out what really works for you and which products you feel like you should grab some extra samples to give them time to show results.
It always takes some effort to find the right thing. Sampling Monday, let's go!

Clinique "Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum and Makeup" : Now these are two products so let's talk about each separately. I applied the "Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum" after cleansing and before moisturising my face and loved the lightweight formula but after trying it for a couple of days I didn't see any difference on my pores. As for the "Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecting Makeup", the shade was indeed a tiny bit darker than mine but this foundation offers great coverage and does make pores appear smaller. In a few words, liked the make-up but didn't see any point to the serum.

Algenist "Algae Brightening Mask" : I am a big mask fan and I am excited to say that I totally loved this! Even though the texture was a bit bizarre for my taste, I was impressed that this brightening mask hydrated, smoothed my skin and it balanced my redness. My face looked brighter for days my complexion looked more balanced.

Bumble and Bumble "Surf Shampoo and Conditioner" : Well, these two products gave me a hard time to decide and I will explain now in detail. I have straight, which sometimes tend to be wavy so I though that this shampoo and conditioner combo would give me a more wavy result than my usual; after using these two I ended up with very light beach waves. I think that Bumble and Bumble is recommended for a better result but the "Surf" shampoo and conditioner can be used on their own or with the "Surf Spray" for a more complete look. Personally, I loved the scent of the shampoo, the lightness of the conditioner and I went crazy for the volume my hair had! This shampoo and conditioner are great but they are not as "beachy" as I expected.

P.S. I hope this round of Sampling Monday's samples is a bit of a help for you to decide which product to try or not! Have you tried any of the products that are mentioned? What did you think of them?

  5. Doomsday may not only be a super villain from Krypton but it may also be a bad Monday or a bad Tuesday to say for myself. So, with my week setting off with a busy Monday I got my ass kicked today by Doomsday, metaphorically and literally; life's hard, but who said that life is easy?
    Even superheroes have their blues.

So, in this instalment of "Sampling Monday" on a Tuesday we have a duo of samples for minimizing pores! Clinique's "Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum" and "Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecting Makeup" are two products that minimize the appearance of pores and creating a smoother look. On the one hand, "Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum" is a lightweight, oil-free formula serum that can be applied twice a day after cleansing and before your moisturiser; it clears out pore-clogging debris and oil and promises 58% smaller pores in 2 weeks. And on the other hand, "Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecting Makeup" is an oil-free makeup that makes your pores seem smaller keeps your complexion light. I have to say that I a little worried the makeup shade will not match my complexion but we will see!

P.S. Hope you had a better Monday and Tuesday than me. xo

  6. Whether you are wandering the rooftops of Gotham chasing the "Court Of Owls" conspiracy or you are bracing the cold wind blowing on your face on your way to work, dry lips are kind of a problem.

Chapped and dry lips are annoying and then you find yourself grabbing the balm that's closest to you or run at once to your local store to find the one balm that works, the balm to rule all balms, the one balm.
    You know the feeling,right?

And again, you might not have dry lips; your lips might be just fine and you are looking for something to glamour them up for, let's say, the Wayne Biotech staff party, along with husband Bruce Wayne, to celebrate the company's latest success on researching illnesses.
So, are you looking for something different for the night?

In both cases, I got you covered! Clinique's "Superbalm moisturising gloss" is here to serve your need for moisturized and effortlessly great lips. Although it a gloss and I know that some you reading this will stop here, please don't! This gloss it is not as sticky as you may expect it to be and its formula stays longer just to keep you from reaching your mirror and re-applying. And the fun part is you get to choose the color you want! There are 8 shades to satisfy your pout and with colors ranging from a bright sheer cherry red (Raspberry) to a pale blue pink with white shimmer (Grapefruit), something will strike your fancy! Its non-shimmer finish makes it wearable on it own day and night and you can also layer it on your lipstick to create a different shade and seal the moisturizing effect. It's never too late to distract people (and foes) with nice lips!

Clinique's "Superbalm moisturizing gloss" is a balm disguised as a gloss to take care of your dry lips and be a part of your make-up routine; changes can be bad and good, but with on your side, the change will be for the better!

P.S. I have purchased the "Grapefruit" shade, which enhances my own lip color and works great with any lipstick! Also, tell me on the comments section which is your favorite balm to dry lips or whether you love/hate the idea of a gloss working as lip balm!
